A mother’s love. A grandmother’s hope.
A mission born from personal loss.
Tammy’s life changed when her oldest son, Sheldon, died from acute lymphoblastic leukemia at just 23 years old.
Sheldon left behind two children. His daughter was only two years old when he died, and his son had not yet been born. As Tammy watched her grandchildren grow up without their father, she saw how deeply children grieve—even when they do not yet have the words to explain their pain.
That experience became the foundation for Brighter Days.
From experience to service
Creating the support every grieving child deserves.
Through her personal grief journey, nursing background, and grief-counseling training, Tammy felt called to create a safe and compassionate place where children and teens could feel seen, heard, supported, and loved.
I created Brighter Days because I believe no child should have to walk through grief alone. Children need safe spaces to remember, to cry, to ask questions, to express their feelings, and to know that what they are feeling matters.

Her hope is that Brighter Days becomes a trusted place where families find comfort, children find connection, and the Jacksonville community comes together around those navigating loss.

Your support helps Brighter Days place hope, resources, and compassionate connection within reach of grieving children.
